How to Work with The Resourceful Lawyer

Our work together begins as soon as you book an introductory call.

  1. On the introductory call we will learn more about you and your firm and what you’re trying to achieve.
  2. If we both agree there’s a good fit, we’ll prepare a customized proposal for your firm.
  3. Once you sign the contract with us, we typically start with informational interviews to gather insights prior to the sessions. We will provide a summary of the insights we gather.
  4. Next is a series of facilitated sessions where we will guide you through our framework for achieving gender equity. At the end of the series, you will have everything you need to implement the solutions you designed.
  5. Most packages include at least one follow-up call to see how implementation is going.
  6. We can end here, or you can choose ongoing support or additional sessions or both.

There are a lot of gender equity consultants, what makes you different?

There are certainly many consultants out there specializing in DEIB. We stand out because:

How much non-billable time is this going to cost?

My role as a facilitator ensures that discussions are focused and efficient, significantly reducing the time required compared to an unstructured process.

Investing this time is worthwhile in itself, but it is also good for business.  Mid-career departures is estimated to cost firms $400,000 per attorney. Moreover, firms with greater diversity are more profitable and more competitive – clients are increasingly choosing diverse firms.

Is this just for women attorneys?

While the Gender Equity Accelerator Series addresses the challenges of women attorneys, any solution that excludes a group of stakeholders (male attorneys, for example) will be incomplete, at best.

Of course, your firm’s women attorneys are key players in bringing equity to your firm and beginning with a session just for them can be a great way to kickstart the series.

Do we have to book the whole series?

Not necessarily. We can facilitate standalone sessions that will still move your firm towards gender equity. Topics for a standalone session might include:

  • Creating policies for flexible work arrangements
  • Evaluating current programs or policies
  • Identifying and prioritizing areas for growth and improvement

We can facilitate sessions for women’s retreats, executive committees, firm-wide retreats, lunches (our treat), other offsite meetings.

Do you offer firm retreat sessions?

Absolutely! In fact, we think a retreat is the perfect time for a Strategic Growth Intensive. All your law firm leaders are there, it’s a time for thinking “big picture,” and the less formal atmosphere encourages open communication and creativity. Just let us know when we should book our flights and we’ll show up with our sharpies, sticky notes, and voting dots!
