Every profession claims to be the most change resistant. We think lawyers may be right. It’s not surprising, really. It’s a profession steeped in tradition and that relies heavily on precedent.  Any new or different approach must acknowledge this reality and plan accordingly. Our approach helps law firms navigate change with four key pillars.

The Four Pillars of Change

EMPATHY

SPACE TO INNOVATE

COLLABORATION

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

We believe:

  • You know your firm best – we are here to help you turn that knowledge into action.
  • One-size does not fit all – you will co-create solutions tailored to your law firm’s goals, culture, and values.
  • Good ideas can come from anywhere and anyone – we encourage you to explore ideas from many sources.
  • Facilitated sessions lead to smart decisions – we create an environment that fosters open communication, focused discussions, and collaboration.

About the Resourceful Lawyer

Law Firm Guidance by a Resourceful Lawyer

Hi, I’m Katherine, the Resourceful Lawyer.

I entered the legal field as an outsider, coming from a teaching background with no connections to law. This may explain why my law firm journey was filled with what I thought were “mistakes” – like expressing concern about balancing a career and family. Despite being recognized as a capable lawyer, I was told I lacked the “right personality” for partnership and left, believing the fault was mine.

Over time, I realized many women lawyers shared similar experiences. I became determined to tap into this potential and redefine success in law firms. My breakthrough came with design thinking, a problem-solving approach used by innovative companies. Initially skeptical about its relevance to law, I soon recognized its transformative power for leadership and equity in the legal profession.

Leveraging my insights into mid-sized law firms and my commitment to equity, I developed a framework for people-centered strategies that enhance equity, retention, and profitability. I look forward to sharing this framework and working towards a more equitable profession.
